As promised, click below to view the video of our casita at the Rancho Valencia resort in Rancho Santa Fe, Califormia…just breathtaking!
The gorgeous, pet-friendly Auberge Hotel, the Rancho Valencia, CA
The Rancho Valencia is in the process of creating their pet amenity program so the welcome amenity is simply an engraved ‘Rancho Valencia’ dog tag and a toy. However, Beau fell in love with ‘Hank, the Housekeeping Horse who Loves Tennis”, a $12 add on meant to help you communicate with housekeeping. Poor Hank was in the private hot tub quicker than he could say ‘NAYYYY”!

PAW visits Hotel Salomar, San Diego, CA
Beau and I spent 6 days in San Diego recently and we were fortunate enough to experience three different pet-friendly hotels and source a ton of great pet-friendly activities, restaurants and resources in the city!! The first Hotel we visited was the Hotel Salomar, see the video above. The Salomar is a Kimpton property, so you know there is a fantastic pet-program in place; no pet-weight restrictions, no additional pet fees, and a hosted cocktail hour in the lobby each evening which is a great way to meet other guests!
Tomorrow I’ll post hotel number two the Westin – Gas Lamp Quarter, San Diego, CA and then on Wednesday, watch for the video of our stay at Rancho Valencia, a beautiful Auberge resort in Rancho Santa Fe, CA about 20 minutes out of downtown San Diego…so stay tuned, I loved them all!

Last week my son Robb flew down to visit us for a few days while we were on St. Simons Island in Georgia. We had a really nice visit, my folks were also there having driven down from Boston for a couple of days. This is a picture of my two beautiful boys, (my son refers to Beau as his brother often!) with me in Savannah, GA. This night we took an early evening drive, (about and hour and a half) north to Savannah to stroll along River Street and see if we could find any pet-friendly dining options. The riverfront area in Savannah is extremely pet-friendly. We were welcome in every gift shop and store. There were plenty of outdoor pet-friendly dining options, but we settled on Tubby’s Tank, a fantastic spot on the second level of one of the most beautiful stone buildings on the street and it offered amazing river views & great live music. The food was great too!

Before Beau and I actually got to Coconut Grove, FL we spent a week at one of the Idyll Cottages on St. Simons Island, GA. The cottage was charming and fantastically located right in the ‘ village’. There is a public beach across the street from the Idyll Cottage where pets were allowed before 9 am and after 6 pm which Beau thoroughly loved!
The nicest part of our week on St. Simons was that Beau and I had family come to visit! My parents and my son Robb all came to spend a few days and we had a wonderful time!
St. Simons offers a huge selection of outdoor pet-friendly dining and as we discovered one evening, so does River Street in Savannah, GA. Savannah was about an hour and a half drive, but lots of fun once we got there. The picture above is of my two beautiful boys on the Riverwalk in Savannah, GA.

Beau and I arrived last night at the Mayfair Hotel & Spa in Coconut Grove, FL amidst torrential rain, thunder storms and lightning…and we loved it! I love a great thunder storm and Beau doesn’t mind them at all.
Just outside the hustle & bustle of Miami Beau and I have discovered a wonderful, pet-friendly destination in Coconut Grove!
After the rains we decided to stroll around in the perfectly storm cooled air to get our first impressions of the ‘Grove’. There are plenty of outdoor, pet-friendly dining options along the sidewalks of the Coco Walk and the Shops at Mayfair, but there are also great dining choices lining the main and side streets all over town. Beau and I decided on Le Petite Paris, a Parisian sidewalk bistro and were thrilled with the friendliness of the management and waitstaff! Beau was immediately brought a bowl of water, before they even took my drink order, (he’s such a rockstar) andthey invited him to sit on the wicker, not on the ground. Oh the French love their dogs!
Today, up and out of the hotel by 8 am, we thought by 8 AM t we’d beat the heat and finish our explorations…not even close! By 8 am it was already too hot to breathe, much less move. We scrapped the trip to the dog park, too hot, and opted instead for the day-rental of a private cabana situated by the roof-top pool here at the Mayfair Hotel and Spa. This turned out to be an excellent choice, and an excellent venue from which to watch the afternoon thunder and lightening show.
So far, we are loving the level of pet-acceptance the Mayfair Hotel & Spa! Most hotels, even the friendliest of the pet-friendly, usually limit Beaus access to the restaurants, pool, fitness rooms and spa. Here at the Mayfair, Beau is welcome everywhere! He can’t go into the pool, much to his disappointment, but this hotel is very inclusive when it comes to their pet-guests! See our video here…don’t judge, this was my first attempt with the flip camera…
